On Tuesday, March 12th Irish Restaurant Awards revealed that the Half Barrel had been nominated in the 2024 Irish Restaurant Awards. The Whitegate-based restaurant is nominated in two categories: Best Casual Dining and Best Gastro Pub.
For the dedicated staff of the Half Barrel, this momentous achievement in being nominated in two categories serves as a testament to their unwavering commitment to culinary excellence and unparalleled hospitality. The Munster Regional Awards will take place on Wednesday, 27th of March in the Great Southern Hotel in Kilkenny. Here both county and provincial winners will be chosen based on the nominees. The winners in each category will then go on to attend the All Ireland Awards Gala Dinner held in May.

In the category of Best Casual Dining, the judges are on the search for the best casual dining establishment offering top-quality food, great customer service and genuine hospitality. In the category of Best Gastro Pub, the award recognises the gastro pub that offers an innovative menu of food which suitably complements their drink selection. The Best Gastropub will provide restaurant-quality dining, whilst not compromising on the traditional ‘pub’ atmosphere.
