Mark the shortest day and the longest night, with light as we begin our journey towards spring on Saturday, 23rd December at 5:30pm. The Winter Solstice Walk takes place on the 12 O'Clock Hills.
Meet: Belvoir Car Park from 5.30pm
Walk Start Time: 6:00pm sharp
Length of Walk: 6KM from the Belvoir Car Park to the Mass Rock, this walk will take you along forestry roads and up through woodland (mucky terrain). A reasonable level of fitness is required. The elevation gain is 155m.
What is Needed: All walkers MUST have a torch, wear warm clothing and have suitable footwear (hiking boots are ideal).
Important Information: No dogs permitted. No buggies or small children.
Voluntary donations are appreciated and can be made on the 12 O'Clock Hills website
Celebrate the rebirth of the sun with a night-time walk through the woods and enjoy festive mulled wine and a mince pie at the Mass Rock. Without the winter darkness, spring wouldn’t be as rewarding!
