A short distance from the town of Killaloe is the home of Brian Ború. Brian Ború's Fort is an ancient ringfort on the banks of the River Shannon.

Brian Borús Fort is a large ring fort between the River Shannon and the KillaloeTuamgraney Road. It has long been identified as the ancient seat of Brian Ború, the most famous High King of Ireland.

This is a brilliant walk for doing with children due to the short nature of it. Below we have created a map that starts at the carpark Between the Waters, Killaloe (opposite the Killaloe Library) but for those with children, you will be able to park opposite the entrance to this 300m route. There is only a small signpost so keep your eyes peeled if driving out.
