McKernan Woollen Mills in Tuamgraney offer free guided tours of their real working weaving and knitting studio. Experience the carefully restored 19th century Hattersley looms as well as state-of-the-art knitting machines in operation and discover the fascinating process of textile manufacturing in a historical context. You can talk to the talented makers and learn about the passion, skill and many hands necessary to create the clothing we so often take for granted. The tour ends in the factory shop where you might want to pick out a nice scarf for yourself or as a present to bring home. Pieces from past collections and samples are always on sale at reduced prices.
Opening hours are Monday to Saturday, 10am-6pm and Sunday 11am-5pm
